Esmé, is described by owners Nicole and Damien, as a vibrant culinary haven inspired by the Mediterranean, nestled in the heart of Coffs Harbour’s iconic Jetty precinct. The concept and commercial project design was focused on creating a warm and engaging environment, suited for long lunches and coastal catch-ups.

Some projects, despite tight lead times and budgets, are simply a lot of fun!! Esme was no exception and as we had worked on multiple projects for the client previously, there was an intuitive understanding of the project intention and a reciprocated trust in our services.

With years of hospitality experience to draw on, the client had selected a high profile site that was previously another now defunct restaurant chain, so we needed to create a fresh and completely different aesthetic, that supported the theme of Mediterranean inspired food and branding. The project had a potentially short term lease (by restaurant standards) ahead of planned redevelopment of the site, meaning we had to work with some existing elements in order to try to meet the budget and then FF + E selections had to be worked around immediate stock availability to meet a pre-Christmas opening.

With the project’s strict timeline and budget parameters set, it meant the design could not be over thought and selections become intuitive. Selecting bright coastal colour, wallpaper, feature tiles aimed at giving the patron a refreshing and light-hearted experience. We channelled the Italian Riviera with some Greek seaside vibes to create a space that has a point of difference to other local venues.

Although it was a fast-paced project to be involved in, the trust and enthusiasm of the clients and trades all working together to meet the deadline is testimony to a great team effort and was thoroughly rewarding.
