Situated on a coastal bush block, this compact home was originally designed by wellregarded architect, Aran Wilman.
The property had long been admired by one of the neighbours, and once purchased, being a chef, the small kitchen was first priority!
The brief was to make it functional and open up the space to living room. With fabulous natural light and high ceilings, we designed finishes
in response to the clients taste and her beautiful, organic accessories. With space constraints limiting kitchen design options, priority was placed on floor to ceiling
storage and a large island bench became both food prep and dining table. Beautiful woven leather stools from Fenton and Fenton balance the textures and colours perfectly.
We used Essastone matt concrete inspired benchtops with matt anti finger print laminate doors in a dramatic black.
Such simple sleek design required expert craftmanship overseen by Dean from Sawtell Kitchens. Handmade Italian terracotta splashback tiles and a
custom made terracotta pendant by Anchor Ceramics support the artisanal style favoured by the client.
Additional robe storage was added to the master bedroom and long a floating media cabinet was installed in the Living room.
The renovation was a pleasure to work on, as the clients have a great eye for detail but trusted the design process. Simplicity can be extremely challenging to execute as there is nowhere to hide with sub standard finishes and workmanship… happily the results speak for themselves.
